Neil Locke
I'm Neil Locke, an AHPRA-registered Occupational Therapist and ACA-registered Counsellor.
I came to this work from a mix of professional training, lived experience and a fairly simple belief: support should make everyday life work better, not just make someone better at therapy.
I'm interested in understanding the person in front of me — what matters to them, what's actually getting in the way, and what could realistically make a difference.
My counselling background adds another perspective when the practical and emotional parts of life overlap.
I don't think therapy should exist in its own little world.
A strategy that works beautifully in a therapy room isn't much use if it falls apart everywhere else.
I want to understand what happens in the classroom, at home, in the community or wherever the difficulty actually shows up — and work from there.
Neurodivergence isn't only something I've studied.
I have lived experience of autism, ADHD, anxiety and OCD. I'm also a husband and father.
That experience influences some of the questions I ask and some of the things I notice, but I don't assume my experience is the same as somebody else's.
I'm particularly interested in the gap between appearing capable and actually coping — and in support that helps without unnecessarily making someone's world smaller.
